Job Description
In your role as an AV Programmer at Pulse, you are essential in turning system designs into effective, user-centric, and trustworthy audiovisual experiences. While programming is a key aspect of your job, your responsibilities also include providing pre-sales support, evaluating system designs, developing documentation, and performing on-site checks. You make certain that every system is programmed to the highest standards and is in harmony with the overall design goals and installation requirements.
Role Overview
As an AV Programmer at Pulse, you play a central role in transforming system designs into fully functional, intuitive, and reliable audiovisual experiences. While programming is at the core of this role, your responsibilities extend into pre‑sales support, system design review, documentation development, and on‑site validation. You ensure that every system is not only programmed to the highest standard but also aligned with the overall design intent and practical installation requirements.
You will work closely with sales, design, and engineering teams to understand client needs, develop accurate documentation, and verify that equipment locations, fixings, and system layouts are correct and feasible. During project delivery, you will monitor site progress, validate installations, update programming and drawings when changes occur, and provide structured feedback to the Project Manager.
This role requires technical creativity, precision, and strong cross‑functional communication. AV Programmers are expected to take ownership of their code and system logic, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and project managers to ensure every system is stable, user‑friendly, and ready for client handover.
Success in this role is measured not only by the quality and reliability of your programming, but also by your ability to design robust control solutions, adapt to on‑site changes, and maintain accountability for the correct operation and performance of all AV systems under your responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Review and refine system designs while considering budget, functionality, and client requirements.
- Create system simulations, logic flow diagrams, and programming documentation.
- Assist the sales team by preparing technical presentations and providing pre‑sales programming expertise.
- Attend sales and design meetings to offer technical input when required.
- Conduct site visits with the Project Manager after project award to review and sign off on system design prior to IFC release.
- Develop, program, and test audiovisual control systems across various platforms.
- Create and implement control system software for audio, video, lighting, and integrated technologies.
- Test, troubleshoot, and validate AV systems to ensure they meet design and performance specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, and technicians to ensure smooth project execution.
- Attend site visits to monitor progress, implement programming changes, test systems, and support commissioning.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and update project databases as changes occur.
- Stay current with industry trends, programming standards, and emerging AV technologies.
- Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams on system operation.
- Manage and close support tickets, ensuring proper documentation and client sign‑off.
- Conduct operational follow‑up visits after handover to gather feedback, verify performance, and apply necessary adjustments.
