Norway Pavilion — Audio, Video, Projection, Lighting, Visual Project in United Arab Emirates

The Norway Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai was built around the ocean and sustainability: visitors walked through a ship-like building and looked out through portals at Norway's sea. Our client, Identity Global, needed the screens, projection, surround sound and lighting to run as one show, repeated every 15 minutes for six months.

We worked on the pavilion for about two years, from design to operation. With Identity and the content team we drew up the AV design and budget, then built a media server system that plays one piece of content in sync across 15 Samsung screens (fourteen of them 85-inch) and three projectors, two of them Digital Projection E-Vision laser projectors, with surround sound and a lighting show timed to it.

Sound runs on 46 Martin Audio A55 loudspeakers and four SX210 subwoofers, powered by Powersoft Quattrocanali and Mezzo amplifiers, with Symetrix processing and Midas mixers. The lighting is Vision fixtures, including 36 VBAR-1804IP and 15 VBAR-1523 bars, under Visual Productions control.

PIXILAB Blocks runs everything, including an escape-plan mode on every screen, presentation modes across the different screen formats and special-event content. We installed the cabling and supports, programmed and commissioned the system, and handed it over a month before opening so the content team could train, test and fine-tune.

The pavilion opened on 1 October 2021 and ran its show every 15 minutes for the six months of Expo 2020 Dubai, with our team on site for support.
